Life is pretty grim these days. So the little pieces of happiness matter more than ever.
Which is why I was so excited to finally receive my long-awaited birthday present of Peace Talks, the latest edition in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher.
I love this series, but now that the book is finally here I have to confess that I'm going to wait to start reading it until I have the time to really savor it. Just having it on my bookshelf makes me happy enough for now.
On a professional level, I'm paying attention to little things such as the velvety texture of the cover jacket; the color, shape, and placement of the Signed Copy sticker; which page he signed. I also had to check to see when the previous book in the series came out, because I’ve been reassuring myself that my overlong delay in getting WAR: Retaliation finished wasn’t as bad as the delay for Peace Talks. Thankfully, I can still use that line, since Skin Game came out in 2014 and I released WAR: Opposition in 2016. So I have two years to get Retaliation out before I lag behind Jim Butcher.
That's another reason to smile!
