Blood on the Page

They say that a good writer bleeds onto the page.

Figuratively, of course.

So, what does it mean when a reader literally leaves blood on the page?

Disclaimer: No, this wasn’t some blood sacrifice on my part. I’ve somehow become Queen of the Paper Cuts. I swear that at the office all I have to do is be near a piece of paper or cardboard and I end up with a paper cut.

One night after work, while rereading my copy of Nalini Singh’s Tangle of Need, I noticed a smear of fresh blood at the bottom of the page. Oops! My paper cut from earlier in the day had reopened. Thankfully, I’d only anointed the one page and by some miracle avoided getting my white shirt all bloody.

I suppose it could be said that I’ve now formally claimed this book as mine. 😉
