I just discovered a new podcast aimed at helping writers get the facts straight when writing about the police. It's called Writer's Detective Bureau and is hosted by Adam Richardson, a police detective in California.
Although I don't specifically write crime fiction, I never know when one of my characters might have a run-in with the law. Plus, I find that listening to discussions of what is right and wrong under the law sometimes sparks interesting ideas for my character arcs.
A huge shout-out to Joanna Penn at The Creative Penn Podcast for having Detective Richardson on her podcast this week, which is how I found out about his podcast.
