This year, I’ve settled into a new reading pattern. I’ll read a sci-fi or space opera novel, then a fantasy/urban fantasy novel. Then back to sci-fi.
My recent lineup included:
Hunt the Stars by Jessie Mihalik. As I mentioned in a previous blog post, this is the first in a new romantic space opera series. I loved it and am so glad that the next book comes out in July!
Spelunking Through Hell by Seanan McGuire. I love her Incryptid series, but I wasn’t sure about this new heroine. I shouldn’t have worried. I loved this character as much as the others.
Honor’s Flight by Lindsay Buroker. This is Book 2 in her Fallen Empire space opera series. I’m rereading the first three books to refresh my memory before I move on to the remaining books. These stories really hit the spot when I want a space adventure without too much angst. I think fans of Jessie Mihalik might like them, even if there’s only a touch of romance.
I’m also waiting for the new Eloisa James historical romance to reach me. I don’t read a lot of historical romance, but she’s one of my must-reads.
