#BlackLivesMatter

You’d think that as a writer, I’d be able to put together an eloquent blog post about the murder of George Floyd by a white police officer and the protests that have sprung up as a result.

Nope.

I can’t find the right words to express my emotions. I’m bouncing between furious outrage at the continual murder of black people by the police and despair because it seems as if our country is incapable of overcoming the viral infection of racism. And yet, many people are acting with courage and compassion, giving me a glimmer of hope.

Still, I don’t know where we go from here. So I’ll just reiterate that #BlackLivesMatter and leave it at that.

As for action, I’m ramping up my efforts to hold those in government accountable and donating to organizations that are already active in the fight for justice and equality.

If you’d like to help, here’s a post from The Oprah Magazine that lists some organizations or funds you can donate to: 16 Ways You Can Help Demand Justice for George Floyd Right Now.
