I do not understand transport company logic.

I ordered an item from Georgia in the United States. When I checked the shipping update, I discovered that instead of it being sent straight up the east coast, which is the most direct route, it was at a facility in Texas.

Black and white image of a map of the United States. Warehouse icons mark destinations. Emoji indicate frustration at the non-linear route. Text reads: Texas sounds like fun. Let's go. Enjoying the road trip. Sorry to see it end.

That is halfway across the country from where it started and not anywhere near Massachusetts. What were they thinking?

It reminded me of when I was booking travel from California to Tampa, which is on the west coast of Florida. The airline suggested a flight that went past Tampa, across Florida, to Miami. Where I’d have to change planes to go back to Tampa.

Seriously?

As you can probably tell, I prefer a straight line, or at least, the most direct route.
