I’ve been listening to a lot of the back episodes of the podcast No Such Thing As A Fish. It often makes me laugh. The facts they discuss always spark my curiosity.
And sometimes, something they talk about makes me pull out my phone and dictate notes so that I can use an idea for a future story. One of the ideas that grabbed me this week was that sailors used to carry hemp seeds with them. That way, if they needed to repair their sails after an emergency, they could plant the seeds and, since the plant is fast-growing, they would soon have the hemp needed for the repair.
I have no idea how I’ll incorporate this into a story, but I’m sure it will show up in some form in a future story.
