I recently returned from the Author Nation conference that was held in Las Vegas. The conference was amazing. Lots of useful and inspirational content, plus fantastic conversations with creative, smart, intellectually curious people.
Las Vegas was…not my cup of tea.
On the plus side, the conference hotel was a short ride from the airport and there were plenty of food options nearby. But holy cow, was it expensive!
I didn’t go to any shows, per se, but I did attend the Real Bodies exhibit. It’s hard to describe. Basically, they took human corpses, then put them on display in various poses, without the skin or fat to block the view of the underlying structures. The show had themed rooms, such as breathe and hunger, and the displays were arranged to show how the applicable parts of the body interact to support that function.
There were also displays with just a human heart, or just the lungs.
If you’re uncomfortable with such anatomical exploration, then don’t click on this link to the Read Bodies website, as they have photos from the exhibit on the home page.
I found it absolutely fascinating and I took a ton of photos!
