It’s January. The time of year where everywhere you turn, people are talking about setting goals for the new year. There’s so much enthusiasm. So many systems and planners to choose from.
Now, I’m not much of a long-term goal setter. I have a task app for tracking my daily to-do list. A couple of other apps for capturing business and personal things I want to do. And, of course, a calendar app.
But even when I actually sit down and write big goals for the year, by April or May I’ve stopped looking at them. I’ve never been good at planning far in advance. On the Clifton Strengths spectrum, my Futuristic is near the bottom. Still, that doesn’t mean I’m not inspired by hearing other people talk about their favorite goal setting systems or planners.
Here are a few I’ve been looking at, thanks to word-of-mouth.
Sarra Cannon’s Heart Breathings. This is aimed at writers, but would work for anyone. I like her emphasis on 90-day (quarterly) planning periods. That seems doable to me. She also has a YouTube channel.
The High 5 Daily Journal. I like that this is also about building self-confidence.
The 2022 Author’s Planner by The Write Services. I like the way this provides a space for writing, publishing, and marketing goals for the year.
Will I end up buying/following any of these systems? I’m in a growth mindset, so maybe. Or maybe these will inspire me to create my own system, even if it’s more short-term. I’ll keep you posted.
How about you? Do you plan out your year or quarter? If so, what system or planner works for you?
