Today’s theme for #1LineWed on Twitter, sponsored by RWA’s Kiss of Death chapter, is OPENING LINES from a scene or chapter. This one was difficult for me, since a lot of my scenes open with a line referencing the action at the end of the previous scene. So these lines wouldn’t make as much of an impact out of context. However, I did manage to pull a couple of lines from WAR: Intrusion, the second book in my new romantic thriller series WAR. I just posted one example and another example will go up later in the day.
If you’re not on Twitter, here’s what I posted last week when the theme was PRACTICAL JOKES AND GENERAL MISCHIEF. This was another difficult theme for me, because my characters are more interested in chasing down the bad guys than pulling jokes on one another. I only managed to come up with one line for this one, which is also from WAR: Intrusion. In this scene, one of Lachlan’s teammates explains how he managed to steal a truck from the rebels by preying on their fear of ghosts.
Intrusion is still a work in progress, aka WIP, so there’s no guarantee this line will stay in the book. 😉
“I hid beneath the steering column. Because the rebels couldn’t see me, they panicked, thinking a ghost was driving the truck.”
