Tomorrow, July 4th, is Independence Day here in the United States.

For the past several years, National Public Radio has had their hosts take turns reading out loud lines from the Declaration of Independence. Hearing this always brings home to me the meaning of the holiday, despite it sometimes being lost underneath barbecues and fireworks.

This year, thinking ahead to hearing this historic document being brought to life has me reflecting on my life. What do I stand for? What will I stand up for? What am I willing to sacrifice for?

I don't know that I have the answers to these questions yet, at least not to an extent that I'm comfortable with. But I am being as honest with myself as possible as I work out what kind of person I am and who I want to become.

Here's to a relaxing, and reflective, holiday.

Happy Fourth of July!
